Appetite Stoke - Museum of the Moon

This August, as part of Stoke-on-Trent’s spectacular arts festival, The Big Feast, Luke Jerram’s “Museum of the Moon” was installed at the grade II listed King’s Hall.

There were initial concerns that the installation would be difficult, but with careful planning, Outback Rigging were able to overcome many of the challenges presented, to deliver the installation of the breath-taking work.

Ultimately, no new fixtures were made into the building’s architecture, and an elegant solution, utilising a motorised rigging point and disused ventilation allowed for pristine presentation of the work, while protecting the listed hall.

The project was a resounding success, as our team received positive feedback from Appetite Stoke - “Outback were an answered prayer!” said Ashley, Museum of the Moon coordinator. “Not only had they installed the piece of Art before, but the team were able to advise us on how to hang the structure in the venue, which was a listed building, with a 100 year old ceiling.”

“They were very quick, efficient and professional during the Installation. I would highly recommend Outback and would love to work with them again”.
